UAE Golden Visa: Increased demand due to a change in the minimum salary requirement
November 23, 2022
The demand for long-term residency has increased dramatically since the UAE reduced the salary requirement for Golden Visas for skilled professionals. Since the scheme’s expansion in October, the Arabian Business Centre (Amer Centre – Sheikh Zayed Road) in Dubai has issued approximately 30-40 Golden Visas per day.
More skilled professionals can now obtain long-term residency under the expanded Golden Visa scheme, with the minimum monthly salary requirement dropping from Dh50,000 to Dh30,000. Medicine, science and engineering, information technology, business and administration, education, law, culture, and social sciences are some of the professions.
Applicants must have a valid UAE employment contract and be classified in the first or second occupational level according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation system. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required for entry.
Over 151,600 Golden Visas were issued in Dubai between 2019 and 2022, according to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA). This is expected to rise significantly now that more types of expatriates are eligible for the coveted visa.
